"Protecting, preserving and improving the environment for present and future generations, and promoting sustainable development."

This is the claimed objective of the European Commission to define new environmental legislation and to ensure that agreed measures are put into practice in the EU Member States.

The EU supports projects which aim to encourage people to "think aloud" about how citizens, businesses, policy makers, NGOs, authorities, teachers, scientists and young people can really change their environmental behaviour.
